3. Product Categories

3.1 Features Introduction

The product categories function is designed to provide standardized and structured classification management for the massive number of IoT devices in the platform.

Products can be categorized by different manufacturers, or further subdivided by different models/series under the same manufacturer. Products within the same category generally share a unified parameter configuration template.

This function establishes a consistent data foundation for subsequent operations such as device onboarding, data collection, and remote management, thereby improving the efficiency and standardization of device management on the platform.

3.2 Category Creation

3.2.1 Adding a New Category

Click the "+Add" button in the top-right corner of the product category list, or the corresponding "Add" button in the row of each product category, to initiate the product category creation process.

3.2.2 Filling in the Basic Category Information

It is recommended to classify by "Manufacturer + Product". For example, take manufacturer name as parent categories and add specific product models/series under them.

Step 1: Select the parent category: You can create a new parent category or add a child category under an existing parent category.

Step 2: Enter the category name: e.g., "A Brand", "IoT HMI". Ensure the name clearly reflects the "manufacturer-product" association.

Step 3: Select the status: Normal or Disabled

Step 4: Enter the sorting number.

Step 5: Enter the description.

Step 6: Click the "Save" button.

3.3 Category Edit and Modification

In the "Operation" column of the row where the target product category is located, click the "Edit" button to access the dedicated edit page for this category and then modify the category information.

The category information that can be modified includes: parent category, category name, category status, sorting number, and category description. Click the "Save" button to complete the modification.

3.4 Category Deletion

In the "Operation" column of the row where the target product category is located, click the "Delete" button. Once the confirmation window pops up, click the "Confirm" button in the window to complete the deletion of the category.
